Scottish drum, vol. 1: Elementary

David González Outumuro

The Scottish drum is possibly the most widely used in pipe bands and its characteristic phrasing and nuances makes the methods designed for it more musically flexible than the ones derived from American or ‘international’ rudiments. This edition fills a gap in the percussion literature and invites us to take up the drumsticks and enjoy expanding our musical knowledge.

The proposed method is essential for drum students or professional interpreters as it serves as a perfect complement to proper instrument training. Regarding students, this volume is valid for different levels (specially for beginners) and therefore it is perfect to be used in music schools or conservatories. Of course, it is also appropriate for pipe bands.

This is the first volume of a series specially dedicated to Scottish drum. The author, David González Outumuro, is an experienced teacher with an outstanding dedication to the drum.
