José Fernández Vide (known as “Maestro Vide”), outstanding Galician composer, wrote a wide variety of works: for piano, for voice and piano, for band, for orchestra…, as well as choral music, two notable Galician zarzuelas and a great number of pieces belonging to the salon music genre.

The Diputación Provincial de Ourense (Galicia) has been working on the publication of Vide’s entire pianistic production, and to do that, the institution has relied on Javier Jurado Luque for its editing. Thus, Vide a 4 mans presents a compilation of some of his greatest pianistic pieces based on the edition made by Javier. Following that publication, the Spanish pianists Purificación Iglesias and Miguel Sáez have adapted them for piano four hands; as a result, we find here a work of great musical and pedagogical interest.

These versions cover a wide range of genres, dance music (pasodobles, waltzes, galop) and regional airs, including a piece with characteristics sounds from the West Indies and a Galician ballad.
