Andrés Gaos: Nas montañas de Galicia, symphony no. 2

Andrés Gaos

Andrés Gaos was a Galician composer who stood out for having succeeded in spreading Galician music during the early 20th century throughout Latin America, especially Argentina, the country where he spent most of his life.

His second symphony, Nas montañas de Galicia, is one of his most outstanding works; in fact, it was awarded several prizes, although unfortunately Gaos was unable to see it premiered.

The version published by Dos Acordes constitutes a critical edition by composer Joám Trillo. According to Trillo, this symphony follows the classical structure, but with a Galician theme of the composer’s own. In addition to the book, that contains all the instrumental parts, a CD with their recording is included.

This volume belongs to the series Agra Vella, within the collection Ars Gallaeciae Musicae that Dos Acordes co-publishes with the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries (AGADIC) of the Xunta de Galicia.
