6 Baladas Gallegas
Juan Montes
Juan Montes is one of the most renowned Galician composers of the 19th century. Among his most outstanding works are his Seis baladas gallegas para piano solo (1897). The work published by Dos Acordes contains the transcription for clarinet and piano of the six original ballads: As lixeiras anduriñas, Doce sono, Negra Sombra, Lonxe da terriña, Unha noite na eira do trigo and O pensar do labrego. The transcription has been carried out by Marta Sancho, Clarinet Professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música da Coruña (Galicia, Spain).
This edition represents an important part of the Galician musical heritage. At the same time, these pieces serve to work on technical and interpretative aspects of the instrument, and so they are especially useful and suitable for clarinet students.
